Time Limit
You will be given a 55 minute final exam. Most students have no problems completing the exam on time even if they had difficulties with time limits on other exams because the final exam has been fined tuned to touch on many topics with problems that can be done quickly and easily if you know the concept. It is extremely helpful if you are well prepared and can do all problems on the department final exam reveiw guide.
Given Formulas
There will be some formulas provided. As you can see by looking at the formula page, you will need to know what the formulas are for. They are not marked and the variables are not clarified. You are expected to know the formulas well enough that you recognize them when you see them. They are usually attached to the back of the exam. You can tear off the formula page and use it both as scratch paper and as a reference while you take the exam. All of your work should be transferred to the appropriate place on the exam before you turn it in. You will turn in both the exam and the formula page before you leave the room.
Distractions
As with all exams, make sure all cell phones are turned off during the exam. Take care of personal business before the exam so that you do not need to leave the classroom until you are finished or the time is up. If you have a runny nose, have tissues handy. Make sure you have plenty of sharp pencils, an eraser, and your calculator with fresh batteries.
Off Campus Testing
If you are taking the exam off campus with a proctor, and you take the exam in the last 4 days of the semester, please ask your proctor to fax the exam to the Assessment Center (517-267-5505) as well as to send it in. You may have an extra couple of minutes to darken your exam so that it faxes well as long as you are monitored by your proctor and you don't add or change any answers at that time. Having your exam faxed in so that it arrives on time to be graded prevents me having to fill out the paper work to give you an incomplete. It also enables you to get your grade on time.
